A local resident of Peru, mother of 3 children and wife, Elvia Martinez Hererra, was recently diagnosed this past June with Stage 4 esophageal/stomach cancer.
Back in March, she noticed she was having troubles swallowing, experiencing nausea, vomiting, pain and by April experienced severe weight-loss. Due to COVID, she was unable to get into see a doctor and appointments kept being delayed. It was not until she went to the ER in June, due to severe pain, that she found out what was really going on.
She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and is unable to eat due to where the tumor is located. She has a nasogastric tube for her nutrition. She now has frequent doctor appointments and unforeseen medical bills and expenses that have been incurring since then.
Her faith in God and support from family and friends has kept her spirits up. Her husband Guillermo still has to work to support his family and her parents help with her 3 children- Joshua (13), Jeriel (7) & Athziri (4).
Lets help lessen the burden for this family with everything they are having to endure with financial support and prayers! This young mother is a great women, friend, mother, wife and it is heartbreaking to see her go through all this.
I have known this family for almost 10 years and our children have grown up together. I even photographed her wedding many years ago. Our community is amazing so lets show them how as a community, we can come together to help!
