Elva Bañuelos y Familia

Hello ,

I am Isabel Bañuelos Elvas oldest daughter.

As many of you know my mom Elva Bañuelos suffered a major stroke Thursday 12/29/2022 and her brain was also heavily bleeding she is also COVID positive and has pneumonia making this situation harder for her to recover fast. She has been in the ICU since then unconscious and non responsive to any neurological testing. She is still in critical condition and on life support. 12/30/2022 they extubated her and she was just on Oxygen still unconscious and non responsive. 12/31 at 6:30am I got a call that they had to intubare her again due to her not being able to breathe on her own. Same day at 7:47am I got another call that they had to get her into the OR for an emergency craniectomy (they removed part of her right skull to relieve the pressure on the brain as it was swelling and pushing against the skull causing her more brain damage and making her condition more critical - she will remain without that part of her skull for 3 months minimum). As of today 1/5/2023 she is still in the ICU intubated non responsive and unconscious, her vitals are stable other than her BP which they are controlling and her brain scans are stable in the sense that there hasn’t been any more bleeding or shifting of the brain - she has significant damage to the right side of the brain due to the stroke and her brain is still swollen from everything she endured. We have a long road ahead of us but we have Faith that she will wake up and recover. There is no foreseeable outcome as doctors have stated we have to wait for her to wake up to be able to see the next step. If she does not wake up soon or start breathing on her own she will need a tracheotomy as well as feeding tube that is as much information as we have right now. I am making this page as many have asked if they can assist in any way. Any and all donations will go to assist with my younger siblings Nora (8) Lazaro (5) Rolando (17) David (21) as well as to keep her house functioning and for any hospital and long term living facility bills that may arise.

Any and all donations help, if you cannot donate all we ask is for prayers and positive vibes for the family as we need to keep the faith so my mom can keep fighting this battle.

We appreciate every single one of you and the unconditional support. If I have not answered a text or call please do not take it personal I will be forever grateful that so many people love and care for my mom but I have all 4 of my siblings to try and keep them from falling down the depression hole as well as being back and forth at the hospital. I will keep updating everyone on Facebook once we have any updates but please be patient I know it’s hard but it may be days/weeks/months before we have any news as it is up to mom to fight the battle and wake up and we have the faith that this will be the case.

Soy la hija mayor de Elva.

Como muchos de ustedes saben, mi mamá Elva Bañuelos sufrió un derrame cerebral muy fuerte el jueves 29/12/2022 y su cerebro también estaba sangrando mucho además de esto esta Positiva de COVID y tiene pneumonia haciendo esta situación más difícil para que ella se recupere rápido. Ha estado en el ICU desde entonces inconsciente y sin responder a ninguna prueba neurológica. Todavía se encuentra en estado crítico y con soporte vital. 30/12/2022 la extubaron y solo estaba con oxígeno todavía inconsciente y sin responder. El 31/12 a las 6:30am me llamaron que tenían que entubarla nuevamente porque no podia respirar ella misma. El mismo día a las 7:47 a.m. recibí otra llamada que tenían que llevarla a una cirugía de craniectomía de emergencia (removieron parte de su cráneo del lado derecho para poder aliviar la presión sobre el cerebro ya que se estaba hinchando y empujando contra el cráneo causándole más daño y poniendo la condición más crítica permanecerá sin esa parte de su cráneo por un mínimo de 3 meses). El día de hoy, 5/1/2023, todavía está en el ICU, intubada, sin responder a pruebas neurológica e inconsciente, sus signos vitales están estables solo la presión es la que se la están controlando y sus imágenes cerebrales están estables en el sentido de que no ha habido más sangrado ni cambios en el cerebro: tiene mucho daño en el lado derecho del cerebro debido al derrame cerebral y su cerebro todavía está hinchado por todo lo que ella pasó . Tenemos un camino muy largo por delante pero tenemos Fe en que ella despertará y se recuperará. No hay un resultado previsible, ya que los médicos han dicho que tenemos que esperar a que se despierte para poder ver el siguiente paso. Si no se despierta pronto o no comienza a respirar por sí misma, necesitará una traqueotomía y una sonda de alimentación, esa es toda la información que tenemos en este momento. Estoy haciendo esta página ya que muchos han preguntado si pueden ayudar de alguna manera. Todas y cada una de las donaciones se destinarán a ayudar a mis hermanos menores, Nora (8), Lázaro (5), Rolando (17) David (21) así como a mantener su casa en funcionamiento y para cualquier factura de hospital y de vivienda a largo plazo para ella que pueda surgir. Todas y cada una de las donaciones ayudan si no puedes donar, todo lo que pedimos son oraciones, ya que necesitamos mantener la fe para que mi madre pueda seguir luchando esta batalla. Si no he respondido un mensaje de texto o una llamada, no lo tome como algo personal Siempre estaré agradecida de que tantas personas aman y se preocupan por mi mamá, pero ahorita tengo a mis 4 hermanos para tratar de evitar que caigan en depresión, además de estar de un lado a otro en el hospital. Seguiré actualizando a todos en Facebook una vez que tengamos alguna noticia - por favor mucha paciencia, se que es difícil pero pueden pasar días, semanas o meses antes de que tengamos noticias ya que queda en que mi mamá siga pelando esta batalla y se despierte y tenemos la fe que así será.
