Hi, I am Susy and I am fundraising for Elton Kirkwood Jr. I have only known Elton for 3 years but most of you have known him much longer. As you all know, Elton is smart, kind, loving and generous man. He has dedicated his life to helping others. I am just one of hundreds of people who have benefited by knowing Elton. He gives his time, energy, knowledge and the shirt off his back to those fortunate enough to spend time with him. Elton has always been a teacher at heart and has taught so many of us about how to live our best lives.
I am asking for those of you who love and care for Elton to please read the below information as he needs our help.
I have Eltons permission to share the details of the past several months and years. Elton has had many struggles including being unjustly targeted at work by people who interpreted illness for a lack of commitment to his craft. There are individuals who were not ethical and sabatoged Elton’s future employment opportunities while he had just finished obtaining his professional teacher license. He had to fight last year to get unemployment because again people told lies. The truth won but unemployment is time limited.
Between 2021-2022 Elton had many serious health issues. But he is a private man who does not want to focus on the negative so most do not know what he has endured. Elton had Covid, Rhabdomyosin, a blood clot in his heart plus a blood clot in his brain causing loss of eye sight. Elton has been in and out of the hospital for two years.
As a result of everything Elton was not employed when he was admitted into the ICU on 12/18/22. He was intubated and placed on a ventilator. The doctor's believed that he was having a stroke. After significant testing, they determined that Elton was having seizures. The stroke that stole part of his vision earlier last year was now triggering seizures. Elton spent 4 long weeks in the hospital. Half of the time was in the ICU intubated. In order for them to remove the intubation, the doctor’s performed a trachiotomy. Elton ended up with pneumonia, a pleaural effusion and an infected absess in his lung.
Elton was discharged on 1/18/23. He missed Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years.
Elton is very grateful to God for being alive. However, Elton still has an uphill battle and he needs a little help from those who love him. Elton is retiring but that is a process and the bills are piling up. Elton can not drive for at least two more months due to the seizures. There are many more medical appointments and new medications. Elton has lost significant muscle mass and it will take him time to rebuild his strength. But he is still smiling and excited about the future.
I am asking for you all to please help Elton and donate to his Go Fund Me fundraiser. Once Elton is back on his feet, he will be doing what he has always done. He will be helping others.
Thank you.
