Bedford Stuyvesant's Own "Hidden Figure"*

The granddaughter & family of the late Elsie Richardson in conduit with Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp (BSRC)-President Colvin W. Grannum, have established the Elsie Richardson 2nd Annual Scholarship Fund.

Two high school seniors will be selected through an essay/application process. The criteria is: A student who has overcome many obstacles in life, yet able to graduate high school and accepted into college. As the only woman among the founders of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp, and a "Hidden Figure"* of the community, the criteria for the scholarship matches her vision of what the Bedford Stuyvesant/Crown Heights community was and has become.

Elsie Richardson's many contributions to Central Brooklyn is presently featured in an interactive exhibit at the Museum of New York (MONY) entitled "NY AT ITS CORE".

You may contact Frank Dody at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation regarding application details.
