Our beloved Lola, Elsa Bartolome Pineda was killed on January 15, 2024. Elsa, also known as “Mama Elsa” is truly the backbone of her family & has touched the lives of many. Mama Elsa lived a simple life, and will always be remembered for her loving & caring nature. On January 15th 2024, Elsa left her home to buy breakfast for her family. Less than a block away from her home, she was fatally struck by a van, where a driver fell asleep behind the wheel. She was killed instantly. She leaves behind her husband of 43 years (Antonio Pineda), her mother, five children, and seven grand children.
Below reads a message from her Granddaughter, Dianne De Dios, that has been translated in English:
“Our lives were so much better even though we didn't have much money, because of you Grandma. You and Grandpa fed us with love that made us know we did not need anything else in life. Our life is very simple but our family overflows with love. Thank you for all the love and advice Grandma. I will cherish all the memories I have of you until the end, my memories of you that are only beautiful and your kindness not only to us, your grandchildren and children, but also to the people around you.
I love you so much Grandma. Growing up would never be this meaningful if you weren't my Grandma. With you, you and Grandpa in all my dreams and efforts. We are sad that you won't be able to attend the graduation of your eldest grandchild, Grandma. But I know you'll be watching me march and take the stage for months to come, even when you're in the Lord's house.
Thank you so much for your unending selfless love, Grandma. Help us to get out of the pain and sadness of losing you to us, to our dependence on the love and care you showed us all until the end. I miss you forever, my Grandma.”
Despite Mama Elsa’s life ending at the hands of a careless driver, no compensation will ever suffice for the life we have lost. The Pineda family was given a mere 2K USD for a life that we will never get back. Nothing can replace the love she shared with us all. Sharing this for the family would be greatly appreciated. Any money donated will be used for funeral expenses and to try to help the family recover from the sudden & tragic death of Elsa Bartolome Pineda.
