Help a Jewish-Russian family escaping Putin
Donation protected
Dear friends,
Please help a Jewish/Russian family escaping Putin’s regime to restart their lives.
My lifelong friends Vic and Galya and their ten-year-old daughter Sasha escaped Russia on March 16th, leaving their apartment and all possessions behind. As long-time critics of Putin’s regime, they were threatened and increasingly isolated in the propaganda-ruled Russian society. With the war in Ukraine, their position became untenable, both morally and in terms of physical safety.
They were able to leave through Turkey on the last day airplane tickets could be purchased using credit cards, and then made their way to Israel. Their accounts are frozen and inaccessible due to the Western sanctions on Russia. All they have is enough cash to last a couple of weeks in Tel Aviv as they try to sort out their legal status and look for work. “I’ve been unable to sleep for more than two hours a night for the shame for what Putin has done to Ukraine and to my country, not even mentioning all the stress, and just not knowing what’s going to happen in our own lives,” Vic told me. “But we don’t regret getting out.”
Please help me help these good folks settle into a new life.
Thank you so much,
