Elowyn Rose Meyers funeral expenses
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Lydia Atterberg and my neice, Elowyn Meyers, was born with severe cerebral palsy in June of 2015.
Elle suffered a traumatic birth event that occurred inside the womb. She was a twin and unfortunately when her twin sister passed at 20 weeks it caused damage to Elowyns brain. They shared a placenta.
When Elown was born, she was beautiful and healthy on the outside but unfortunately paralyzed and had loss of brain function on the inside.
Elowyn had no control over her extremities or movements nor was able to communicate. Elowyn was never on a vent and could breathe on her own, but did require a stomach feeding tube.
Elowyn was a miracle baby!
Recently my brother in law Billy Meyers along with his wife Elise, Elowyn and teenage son Brody moved to Des Moines, IA for a career opportunity. My sister in law, Elise left the workforce to dedicate her energies in keeping Elowyn home safe and healthy.
For 7 years, my niece was in stable conditions and had wonderful care! There were a couple setbacks but Elowyn was a tough cookie and always would overcome!
On Friday, September 23rd, 2022, Elowyn stopped breathing at her home. At that time Elowyn was in the care of her grandparents who was able to assist with CPR and placed a call to 911.
Unfortunately, this was a time sensitive emergency and Elowyn needed medical attention ASAP. During her ambulance ride to the first hopsital CPR was being administered. Time of death was even called but miraculously, her little heart started beating again on its own!
Elowyn was later transferred to the University of Iowa hospital and was on a ventilator the entire time.
Unfortunately, machines were keeping her little body alive and her body was tired.
In the early hours of Saturday, September 24th our beautiful, tough little girl went to be with Jesus.
This tragedy has come as a complete shock to our family. We are now in the process of helping our siblings and family grieve the loss of Elowyn and plan a funeral. Something no parent should ever have to face.
Elowyn was a precious part of our life.
She was our angel on earth.
Anything you contribute will be used towards funeral expenses as this was something that came so unexpectedly.
Thank you and God bless you!
