My Father, Ellis Chinn, passed away on March the 8th after a very long battle with COPD. Having spent most of his life in Kentucky he was in to a little of everything throughout his life. Having rode in the rodeo, enlisted in the Army, been a mechanic, miner, truck driver, ran a carpet shop, conducted trains, and spent plenty of time outdoors hunting and fishing.
He was diagnosed about 10 years ago and the last 3 were especially hard. He spent much of his time bed-ridden (which I'm sure was the hardest part for him) and struggling for breath. He got the 6 months talk 6 years ago and the "any day now" talk about a year ago. If nothing else, he was certainly a fighter. In his last weeks we spoke often of what was next and he told me of his weariness and how he was ready to go home because he knew death wasn't the end, but rather a relief and a beginning.

To me, Ellis was a father, a confidant, a best friend, and a North Star. He amassed a multitude of friends in his life and, at his death, I'm sure they would each like a chance to say goodbye and see him one last time. Service will be held Sunday, March 12 at Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, KY. Visitation for family begins at 10am and friends are invited to join at 11am. The funeral Service will begin at 2pm.
Unfortunately, Dad didn't secure any form of life insurance before his death and leaves behind a wife, Sarah, alongside 6 children. The funeral costs amount to right at $7500 and will not include a headstone to mark his gravesite. This is a cost we cannot allow to be passed on to Sarah and the children as their monthly budget is even with expenses as is.
I will be handling the funds and putting 100% of them to funeral and burial costs. We need funds ASAP due to the cash deposits required Sunday. After costs are paid, any additional funds will be used to mark the gravesite. If you'd like to give locally or in cash/check you can send it or bring it to the funeral home, let them know it is for Ellis, and they will apply it directly. I will add your offline donation to this campaign to keep the total accurate.
