Our Grandson Elliott is 15 months old; he has had a rough start including hospital stays on feeding tubes, surgery to correct his penis and a severe lip and tongue tie which were cut whilst he was awake at age 8 months.
Elliott has tonsillitis continuously and his tonsils are the size of an adults; this is delaying his speech, his eating and is also delaying his development due to not eating properly. He also has adult sized adenoids and cannot breathe through his nose.
Elliott constantly vomits his food up due to the size of his tonsils creating a very small space for food to pass and increases the sensitivity of his gag reflex. He basically only eats yoghurt and his bottles.
We have been to see a private ENT surgeon due to the public system constantly letting us down. He has advised that Elliott needs his tonsils and adenoids removed or it will continue to delay his development.
Our dilemma is that the public system won’t even examine him as they will not consider removing his tonsils/adenoids until he is 2 1/2 years old. This will cause a massive delay in his development which will be difficult for him to catch up on.
We need $4000 by mid-August 2017 to have the surgery completed in Bundaberg. We are unable to afford this on our own so we are seeking the support of the community and our friends.
