Elliott's Family Transportation
Donation protected
Hello friends of little Elliott - we have an ask for transportation support, if anyone can help.
For a variety of reasons, I (Tasha) have not yet been able to replace my car yet: urgent mental health care costs for myself; high cost of food when neither parent has bandwidth or energy to cook; fear over making a risky financial decision in an economic disaster; every waking moment I have is about keeping a kid alive, etc. I'm in process, but we all have rather a lot on our plate.
We've just learned this afternoon, though, that starting next week, Elliott's going to need to be admitted every Monday and stay inpatient for 2-5 days while his system eliminates the chemo. We're told some kids can go home after only 2 days, but some need the full 5. So for the next four weeks, the three parents will be on rotating 12-hour shifts at his bedside (you can't leave a two-year-old in the hospital by himself). With outpatient infusion, having only one car was okay because Stef has been working from home and one of us would just go. That's not going to work at all from the inpatient side, so I'm really wishing I had solved this problem already.
If your family has the ability to contribute towards car rentals or a used car purchase, that would be enormously, enormously helpful to us. Thank you all for your kindness, support, and above all, your friendship during these frankly awful times. We love you all.
