Elliot has Arthrogryposis, a lifelong physical disability, that can be improved with surgeries and therapy. After many other surgeries with specialists in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania, his journey has taken his family to a specialist in Florida. One hinderance in Elliot's ability to walk is his knees; they are stuck bent in place with little ability to flex. To have hope of any type of walking, surgery is the only option.
This knee surgery will be completed with a hip surgery; all together it is an 8-10 hour surgery. Due to its length, the surgery will be done in two stages, two weeks apart for healing. Within one week after each surgery, Elliot will have intensive therapy to maximize his results. Once both surgeries are complete and some time has passed for monitoring and healing, another round of doctor-supervised therapy will begin and new orthotics (foot and leg braces) will be crafted. The doctor and therapist required time in Florida will be a minimum of 6-8 weeks
Angela, Josh and Elliot will be leaving May 4th and returning hopefully somewhere around June 13ish.
I am setting this fund up to help support the family with gas, housing, and flights during their stay, if there is any remaining balance it will be put toward their medical bills or medical supplies not covered by insurance.
