So many wonderful humans have been asking us how they can help, and in the most sensitive way I can put it, this is what we'd need the help with the most.. We won't need lots of food made as most of the time we are at the hospital, and there isn't alot WE ourselves can do for him right now. If your able to contribute thank you so much but absolutely no pressure! Feel free to just keep sending us positive energy for our boy ❤️
Our story:
On September 7th, 2025, we gave birth to our beautiful boy at 23 weeks gestation. There were no warning signs or reasons for it; my body just went into labor. Contractions began, my water broke, we went to the hospital, and he was coming. They were trying to figure out a way for him to stay in, but the membrane around his body had erupted. They took us by ambulance to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital for his best chance at living. Once we arrived, they rushed me into emergency surgery, and away we went.
Our baby boy was born 12 inches long and weighing 1 lb 5 oz. He is such a strong fighter!
On day 7 of being with us, he began to have some discoloration in his abdomen. As it continued to change color and make his tummy larger and tight, they had to rush him to an emergency surgery to install a drain. With the drain in, they discovered a large amount of blood filling his abdomen. They prepped us that the odds of him making it through the day were low, but each time they tell us that, he keeps fighting through.
Now, nearly 2 weeks from being born, he is still draining blood, but it seems to be slowing down. The nursing staff and his entire care team have been phenomenal, and we are going to keep helping him fight every day till he gets to come home... and even after!
We are fundraising to support our baby boy's medical expenses and ongoing care, as well as support during unpaid leave.
