Help Support Ellie's New One-Woman Show

Donation protected
Hello Beloved Friends and Supporters,

I'm Ellie, a solo performer, writer, educator, wife, and mother of three kids - living on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.

I'm hard at work on my third one-woman show. I'm excited, terrified...determined

My first two shows, "Matchmaker on the Roof" and "The Way They Came" have told the true stories around my passage from the UK to Canada, the crazy way I met and married Charles, and then, the raw and wild stories around the birth of my three children, respectively. I've performed them all over the Kootenays and beyond. I am still so very in love with the art form of solo storytelling, and a new show is longing to be birthed.

This third show is my attempt at completing the trilogy. I'm still in the stages of producing a first draft but my idea is this:
The new play (working title "Mingled Yarns - tales of my unraveling") is about the strands, or threads, of life that get tangled up when you're trying to tell stories that make sense of the narrative of your life. It's about the messy questions that hover around us in the middle of trying to raise a family, keep a marriage going, keep from drowning in dishes, make art, and sometimes, late at night, you might have time to attempt to trace the various threads and runaway strands that brought you into your present tangled mess. Sometimes you wonder, almost obsessively, if everything that has happened in your life was somehow inevitable. What happens when you try and make something beautiful out of the threads that you're tangled up in? Is there a pattern hidden in the tangled mess? Hint, I am more a spinner of story yarns than actual yarn.
There will be plenty of humor in this show, because that's how I roll. The yarns and narrative threads weave a poetic multidimensional tapestry, traversing time and space. You will meet the characters in my life again, older this time (aren't we all?).
There will also be yarn, lots, and lots of yarn.

I'm hoping to finish my first draft and produce workshop versions of the show in the spring of 2024. Your donations will help me pay for professional help with workshopping and dramaturgy and then will help me with costs related to: staging, renting venues, hiring a director, printing posters/flyers, and online promotion.

I am ever so grateful in advance for any amount, no matter how small, that you might decide to send my way to support me in this endeavor. This play wants to be made, and I'm pretty sure that with some help, I can make it.
