This is our beloved therapy dog at St. Peter’s Hospital. Ellie had been diagnosed with recurrent grade I fibrosarcoma at her tail base. Ellie has already had to have her tail removed.
Working in a acute care hospital brings emotional challenges to both us (staff) and our patients. But in the moments that Ellie is visiting our hearts become lighter and we become refreshed with joy, happiness and love.
Her human Tom has opted for palliative chemotherapy and radiation. Directly from Cornell University Veterinarian Specialist:
Ellie's cancer has come back and is growing large and making it difficult for her..Given the extent of her current disease, surgery is not a viable treatment option. Radiation therapy +/- systemic treatment with an oral chemotherapy drug called Palladia is recommended. Prior to initiation of therapy, complete re-staging with imaging of the chest and abdomen will be completed.
During these very difficult times working in the medical field we all need happiness, love and joy.
Having the chemotherapy and radiation her prognosis is that it will extend her life. Giving us all opportunity to keep Ellie in our lives.
Think of that pet you may have had that already crossed The Rainbow Bridge. What wouldn’t we all give to extend the time we had with that furry fun family pet.
Lets all pitch in, Show the St. Peter’s spirit for us all being known as a family. Helping to care for each other and our extended family such as Elllie and lessen the burden for her human Tom. All donations go to Tom.
Thank You♥️♥️♥️
