“Your child has cancer.” Most of us will never have to hear those words, but for one special family this nightmare just became a reality.
Anyone that is lucky enough to to know the Shorter Family would use words like kind, honest, friendly, generous, loving, and selfless to describe them. Their youngest daughter, 16-year-old Ellie, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. After weeks of needle biopsies, ultrasounds, a contrast dye CT scan, blood tests and finally a surgical biopsy it’s been confirmed and now Ellie begins the fight of her life.
As you can imagine, Ellie’s journey is not going to be easy with the many doctor's appointments, the ongoing treatments, missing school, the effects of her chemo treatments, her parents needing to miss work, and the immense financial cost that comes along with treating cancer. Ellie is not one that backs down from a challenge and she is ready to tackle this disease and show cancer that it picked the wrong girl.
CANCER SUCKS, and no one should have to go through it. Let's help relieve the Shorter Family of the financial burden that comes along with tackling this horrific disease so they can focus on Ellie getting well and beating cancer.
