Ellie's Heart

Ellie was born April 30, 2016.    Soon after birth she was whisked away to the NICU at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE.   When she was two days old, her doctor determined that in order to give Ellie the best care possible she should be taken immediately to Children's Hospital in Omaha.  She was taken by helicopter to Omaha on May 2.  On May 6 she underwent open heart surgery to repair multiple heart defects.  Ellie was able to come home to Hastings on May 15.  

Ellie has done remarkably well since her surgery.  However, she will need to be followed up closely by her cardiologists in Omaha.  She continues to need some help learning to eat and is currently using a feeding tube. 

The medical expenses from Ellie's extended hospital stay as well as surgery are quite overwhelming for her parents. Ellie needs very close observation with numerous medical appointments for the forseeable future.
