This GoFundMe page has been set up by longtime friends & colleagues of Ellen Cordray. Most of us have known & worked with Ellen for over 20 years. We all know she is a great person and a fighter that fought rectal cancer beginning in 2009 & won! Our friend, a single mother of one amazing teenage son, is again battling & she needs your help, again with a health issue & the resulting financial battle.
In 2010, it was confirmed Ellen carries the gene that causes cancer. As a result, she has face many surgeries to agrresively manage any cancers returning or newly manifesting. As part of her lifesaving cancer surgery, she had part of her rectum & colon removed, and her large intestine was manipulated to eventually act as her colon had previously. In 2015, she began experiencing symptoms that she believes may be attributable to the rectal surgery. One year later, doctors can still not provide a conclusive diagnosis, but have suggested removal of her gal bladder may ease her symptoms. Her gal bladder removal is scheduled for October 26, 2016.
Due to her current condition, Ellen has been unable to work for over one year, without any source of income and with medical bills mounting. At this time, her company's Long Term Disability coverage has not been approved, due to no confirmed diagnosis. She has applied for Social Security Disability, but has not yet been approved. Because she is technically still "employeed", although not working, she has been denied welfare assistance.
Any funds donated will go directly to Ellen, and will be used to either pay for accumulated medical bills and to pay for the daily living expenses that have become impossible to make without a paycheck for over a year.
