Hi, I'm Elle. I'm a nine year old Aussie mix female rescue that lives in the northern suburbs of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. Within the past two weeks, I suffered a tear to the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in my left hind leg, and after the preliminary examination, my veterinarian recommended surgery to repair the damage to that knee/leg. Cost estimates for the accepted surgical procedure plus all the pre- and post- care elements indicate an out-of-pocket expenditure over $6000 and perhaps closer to $8000. My Dad and Mom both work, and they're fortunate that their jobs allow them to afford a home with a fenced yard for me and my younger brother in a very typical suburban neighborhood. Mom & Dad also have the typical debts of adults their age and their combined income bracket, which means they're not fortunate enough to have $6-$8K just laying around for emergency expenses like my upcoming surgery. So, my Dad decided to explore this crowdfunding option in the hope of connecting with acquaintances/friends or gracious and sympathetic animal/pet lovers willing to help total strangers with my surgical expenses.
