Ella’s fight against CHD

Hello,

Our daughter Ella Grace was diagnosed with a complex heart defect at my anatomy scan. As you can imagine this was a devastating day for our family, what we expected to be a normal check up visit turned into something drastically different. We have had several echos and ultrasounds to confirm Ella’s exact condition and prognosis. With this comes time off work and draining my pto that I have had saved for her birth.

Ella has been diagnosed with HLHS- Hypoplastic left heart syndrome with coarctation of the aorta.

I will be induced March 7th and Ella will immediately start medication through her umbilical cord (PGEs) to keep her heart open. She will then immediately be taken to the CVICU where she will have another echo preformed. As of now the plan is Ella will need one open heart surgery to fix her aorta arch with a patch, this will happen with 1 to 3 days of birth. The medication she will be on will allow her to have this time to make it to surgery. Additional surgeries will then be determined and decided on.

After surgery, she is expected to be in the CVICU for at least 3 to 4 weeks. As you can imagine the original plan and time we were going to have off to care for our little girl has changed. Ella will require extensive care until she is fully “healed” from surgery.

With our pto almost already exhausted and medical bills coming in, we are asking for any help in anyway. Prayers for Ella to make a complete recovery and/or financially to help us pay our mortgage, utilities, and car payment so I can stay home and provide for Ella for a few months without the stress and worry of work and bills.
