Ella’s campaign for Scoliosis Association UK

My name is Ella I Am 13 years old. I am planning on cutting off over 7 inches of my hair to raise money for the Scoliosis Association.

I was born with a condition called VACTERL ASSOCIATION. This meant that I was born with a heart condition tetralogy of fallot and had open heart surgery when I was 9 months old, plus other surgeries for my heart. I was also born with an imperforate anus and had my first bowel surgery when I was 1 day old and have had repeated surgeries for this since with the most recent being to have an ACE stoma created when I was 11. I also have only 1 kidney and a neuropathic bladder and have had surgery a few times surrounding this. My most recent problems have been from my scoliosis and heme vertebrae. This I was also born with. In the past few years I have found it very painful walking, sitting, standing and everything in between. I also struggle with pain in my legs and numbness. I wore a spinal brace for sometime but found this very restrictive and problematic for some of my other conditions. I am currently waiting to have surgery to help with this. This is scary but I’m really hoping it will help with my pain. I find it hard being my age and carrying on as normal but try my best.

I have previously cut off my hair to raise money for VACTERL support group but thought I would do it again for a new cause that is close to me. I also plan to send my hair to The Little Princess Trust.
