Hello Everyone,
LiKWUiD here, and I'm a DJ, Songwriter and Teaching Artist based in New York City by way of South Carolina. I came to New York back 2005, to attend St. John's University for Business School (c/o 2008). While here, I became immersed in the independent hip hop scene; I won a few street battles, emcee challenges, released a few albums, did some tours, and was blessed enough to perform at some of my favorite venues with some of my favorite artist. I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Recording Academy (The Grammy's), BMI, The Sifer Harlem (founder), the Hunger Division, HiPNOTT Records, and Women In Music.
For the past few months, I've been continuing my journey as a musician by collaborating with some of my favorite musicians, engineers, creators, emcees, singers and artists. We've been working extremely hard to put together my first live album and I'm so excited!
Zaven Embree, our music director, is wonderfully leading our sessions and writing some amazing tunes. Our engineers, Willie Green and Cedric, have been making sure that the technical side is covered and our sound is on point. Ben has been keep our schedules in tact; while Nir & Baba have provided a wonderful space for us to create. Buddy and Pest have been documenting everything as far as photo and video. Thank you so much guys!
This has been one of the most zen creation journies that I've ever felt. I feel blessed to be working with such a talented and passionate group of people. The energy is uplifting and I know in my heart that we are creating something very special.
So why are we raising funds?
We are about 60% done with the album, but have a little more to go. We are so excited to record this project. The musicians and singers have been playing and singing their hearts out! (The crew is absolutely 'illing, y'all!):
