Ella Hattendorf

On Saturday the 20th of November, our friend Jodi Hattendorf and her family received a devastating phone call.

Beautiful, vibrant, Ella Hattendorf had been involved in a life altering accident. Time was of the essence, and the whole family was to immediately meet Ella at St. Vincent Hospital, where she needed to undergo emergency surgery. The neurosurgery team was waiting for her, hoping to save her life.

Thankfully, that surgery was successful, although she currently remains in the pediatric intensive care unit, on life sustaining equipment. She will be there for the foreseeable future, with no certain timeline for moving forward.

Once Ella is able to leave intensive care, she may require an extensive stay in a 24 hour residential skilled care facility, receiving nursing care in addition to multiple therapy services. While again there is no timeline for this, Ella’s team of medical experts have told her family to expect at least 12-18 months of this type of rehabilitation.

A tragedy such as this puts an enormous strain on a family, beyond the emotional. This GoFundMe is being started in an effort to ease some of the financial strain that will inevitably occur with a medical event of this magnitude.
