In loving memory of Elizabeth Ann Bethel, we are saddened to announce that our "Auntie Elize", also just known as "Ouma", has passed away on the 27th of October 2020. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, and we are so fortunate that her daughter Ann-Marie was able to spend entire days by her side, whilst her grandchildren Chloe and Rhys, son-in-law Brandon, and a couple of family friends were also able to visit her in hospital during her last few days. With so much love for their Ouma, and much sadness at this time, Ann-Marie and her family are incredibly grateful for the calls and messages of support which they were able to share with their Ouma during these precious last days. Elize made everyone smile, even on her last days on Earth.
At this time, Memorial plans are still being arranged for a time when friends and family can gather after Covid restrictions are lifted. Any updates regarding locations and times will be posted here.
Elize's final wishes were for half of her ashes to be scattered at Sidmouth Beach in Devon, where she had happy memories from her time in the UK with friends and family. And she wished for the other half to be scattered at Franskraal, South Africa, where her much loved late husband's ashes were scattered.
The family have had numerous messages from people asking how to help, and feel that in lieu of flowers, they would really appreciate donations to help with the costs associated with the cremation and memorial. Ann-Marie also feels very passionate about donating any excess funds, beyond the necessary memorial costs, to the Royal Berks charity which helps tremendously with equipment at the hospital in Reading. The hospital have been amazing at helping Elize on numerous occasions these past 6 years, and the family would like to show their appreciation.
If you would like to donate, please click on the donate button and donate whatever you can. If you are not able to donate don’t forget you can still leave messages and comments for Ann-Marie and the family to read.
Last but definitely not least, Ann-Marie has kindly asked that people share memories or photos so that she can put together a remembrance book for the family, and especially Elize's grandchildren to read and enjoy for years to come. Knowing Elize's character, there should be plenty of funny memories to share! Please post messages here or email myself or Ann-Marie directly.
Let's give Elize the send off she deserves, especially during this difficult and uncertain time when friends and family are still distanced through restrictions.
