Elizabeth's Volunteer Trip (VESA)

Hi Friends!

As some of you may know, I will be traveling to Laos this spring to take part in a Volunteering Trip through an organization called VESA. VESA's programs are focused on bringing groups of students together to work hand in hand with local villages to make impactful, eco friendly changes in communities around the world.

During my time in Southeast Asia, I will be working at the Sayaboury Elephant Conservation Centre, taking on a hands-on role in planting food, building/ maintaining their facilities, as well as working with the elephants (accompanying them to and from the breeding area).

I will also be spending some time working with children from a local school, teaching English and basic sanitation skills.

Lastly, a portion of this program will be dedicated to renovating and revitalising local facilities; painting, installing new play equipment and the constructing new bathroom within facilities.

I have made this GoFundMe page to raise money for my contribution to and participation in the VESA program, as well as the travel fees involved in getting me there. This $3500 goal reflects the costs of my accommodations throughout the duration of my volunteering. This includes meals, local transportation, and nightly accommodations at the elephant conservation area and other hostels. An additional part of VESA's program costs go directly to building materials needed for volunteer projects, as well as hiring local skilled trades people to assist us. Finally, a portion of my program cost will be given as a donation to the local host organizations we work with.
