Hi everyone, I wanted to post an update as I have paid the deposit and booked the flights. Thank you to everyone who has helped me reach this goal. Unfortunately, there aren't any scuba classes that I can complete before the start of the course, so I won't be able to scuba dive. I have also chosen the beach camping option for housing, which lowers the goal to $3345. I am so excited that in a month I'll be camping on the beach, snorkeling, hiking, and completing my own research paper. Thank you again for supporting me, and if you are unable to support financially, know that everyone's words of encouragement and shared excitement help more than anything. Another huge help would be sharing this page with other friends and family, as I know not everyone I love has social media.

This October, I applied for a Field study program in the Caribbean. I was quickly accepted and ran to check with my academic advisor and head of department if this three-credit course could be applied towards my degree.
They said they would make it work and to absolutely take this opportunity! It's always been my dream to work internationally, with South America being in my top three choices, so here I am asking for your help.
With your help, I will learn how to collect and apply data collected with underwater slates and other research equipment, participate in a three-week lab, and conduct my own research project.
While the Caribbean is a beautiful vacation stop, there won't be much time to relax between classes and data gathering. I am most looking forward to the challenge of completing my first individual research project.
The first $900 is a deposit to accept my spot. This is due by November 13th.
The next $2,800 is for the food, housing, administrative fees, and academics.
Additionally, $700 to participate in scuba diving section.
The remainder of the cost will go towards the flight to Cancun.
