My sister, Elizabeth DeForest Wozny has been diagnosed with breast cancer. This type of diagnosis is always so difficult to hear, but coming off the loss of our angel of a Mother almost feels unbearable. Almost, but not quite, because my mom taught us to be strong, and because she is overseeing the months ahead and will only allow for all successful outcomes.

My sister is ready for battle, and feels confident in the choices her and her team of medical professionals have made. She will be getting a mastectomy, with reconstructive surgery. This will be a 10 hour surgery, which sounds scary, but is also the same procedures my mom did when she had breast cancer, so it feels right.

After surgery there will 12 weeks of recovery, followed by chemotherapy, the part she is most scared of.
