Many of you know our amazing Elizabeth was diagnosed with cancer this summer.
As a nurse, Elizabeth spent the earlier part of this year supporting others through the corona virus pandemic, and the last thing on her mind was that she’d soon be fighting for her own life. Her diagnosis has been devastating.

Elizabeth has Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which affects the lymph nodes, blood, and immune system. Her cancer is stage 2, which means she has a good prognosis, but her immune system being compromised makes her vulnerable to infections and illnesses making normal life activities very dangerous for her. Of course bedside nursing is out of the question for now as well.
Elizabeth is currently undergoing chemotherapy. The treatment and it’s side effects are grueling: she faces nausea, abdominal and bone pain, extreme fatigue, insomnia and anxiety daily. Nevertheless, she is facing her treatment with grace and patience.
Unfortunately, financial pressure has added to her burden. Cancer treatment is extremely expensive. Even though she is fortunate to have health insurance through her employer, Elizabeth's benefits don't come anywhere near covering everything; she has lost wages, substantial out of pocket costs of treatment, and numerous other extra expenses. Between all the copays, bills for items and services not covered, and not being able to work her regular job, financial stress is building, and it’s affecting her well-being.
Here is where you can help! We are asking our friends, family, community, and extended network to contribute whatever you can to help ease the financial load so Elizabeth can focus on healing. She is extremely grateful for the support and generosity she has already received: gifts of money and gift cards, PTO donations, help with driving her to treatments, gifts for self-care, and time, thoughts, and prayers. Let's keep it going!
Lizzie is a strong, smart, hard working young woman with an absolute heart of gold, who dedicates a great deal of her time and energy to causes dear to her heart. She’s a dedicated maternal child nurse and a tireless volunteer with an organization that empowers girls through music education, creation, and performance. She's volunteered with with organizations that support the arts, refugee families, and human trafficking victims. She has done so much to help her community and now she needs us!

Please donate what you can; any amount is appreciated. And please share widely with all your networks. The world needs Elizabeth. And now she needs our help.
