Elizabeth Wyatt Battling Cancer with Rainbows!

Many of you know Elizabeth Wyatt. For those who don’t, she was the Champion and organizing agent of the Corvallis Sewing Brigade and 90,000 PPE masks and gowns made and delivered during the Covid peak. She is the co-founder of STAGES Summer Theater Camp, and manager of the Corvallis School District Theaters and their incredible program that gives hundreds of local children opportunities to learn about theater every year. She is also a strong advocate and proponent for fairness and equity and strong listening in her community. She is a Singer, Mother, Daughter, Friend and right now, she needs our help.

Elizabeth is currently fighting stage 3 ovarian cancer. She has taken on the battle bravely and intentionally, and her prognosis is good, PROVIDED she stays on the strict cancer treatment regimen. While she is 100% onboard, she is beginning to realize the tremendous financial burden this treatment requires. (It's a real thing experienced by chemo patients called financial toxicity.)

Elizabeth is already leaning hard on her 86 yr old mother for financial support, and without her mom's help, she wouldn’t have been able to afford the treatment and keep up with her bills thus far. Besides the deductible and copay, there are many out-of-pocket expenses and some treatments that insurance won’t cover. She is at the beginning of her chemo journey, which will last until March. Then there is her recovery from chemo and back to the land of the healthy, which will take a few more months.

So far, from diagnosis through initial surgery, the gap left after insurance is nearly $20k. Elizabeth has since learned that the typical financial gap for people fighting cancer is often upwards of $50k.

Initially, Elizabeth was reluctant to let us ask for financial help on her behalf because she's received so much emotional and physical support.

We reminded her of how much she is loved and that there are many people who wish to help. She is a force that we have watched move mountains and it is time she let friends do the heavy lifting so that she can put all of her energy into kicking cancer's butt! She has a daughter in college, an elderly(ish) mom, and a good bit of this journey yet to go.

She finally relented and let us start this GoFundMe on her behalf. Simply put, she will not make it through to the end of this journey financially without some help.
