Elizabeth with expenses

Hello!

My name is Tosha. I have the privilege of being Elizabeth and Brian's friend and next door neighbor.

I'd like to start off by asking everyone if they can keep my friend, Brian Smith, and his family in their thoughts and prayers. It would mean the world for them. In 2016, Brian was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, where he received a defibrillator. In the years moving forward, he has been faced with heart failure. In order to save his heart, he received an LVAD in February 2022. He was then placed on the transplant list. On Wednesday, May 17th, 2023, Brian received the call from Cleveland Clinic, letting him know there was a heart available. Everything went great through the surgery, and the new heart was working great until they went to close him up. The left ventricle stopped working, which caused a chain of events that Brian is now on life support. There was another surgery due to internal bleeding, which they now have under control.

If things were to go perfectly and the way we expected it, Brian would have to stay at Cleveland Clinic for 6 weeks to ensure the new heart is adjusting properly. With all the issues that have taken place, he is looking to be there longer than expected.
