On April 20th 2020 Abby Mckie, Dining Service Director at Elizabeth Seton Residence Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, will once again be making her way from Hopkinton to Boston in the 124th running of the Boston Marathon as a charity runner.
This will be Abby's 2nd Boston Marathon supporting the Elizabeth Seton Residence!
Funds raised as a result of her initial charity run in 2018 supported development of the "Dining with Dignity" program. As a Dining Service Director and Dietitian, Abby knew the initiative would make a difference in the lives of her frail nursing home residents.
Donations enabled the purchase of stylish new napkin-like adult clothing protectors, red plates that promote more successful
independent dining for those with decreased vision or cognitive deficits, and colorful mugs with special handles that make it easier for arthritic hands to manage. Abby's goal is to raise over $5000 this year, which will allow expansion of the program through the
purchase of additional specialized mealtime equipment to further support the dignified dining experience that brings a smile to her residents each day. Says Abby, "Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me!"
