Elizabeth Platz Family Support Fund

I’m so glad this caught your eye and you are here reading about this fundraiser. Do you know Elizabeth Platz? Well…to know her is to love her. If you haven’t had the pleasure, I’m here to let you know that she is an angel walking among us. The most beautiful person in every single way imaginable. She is a beloved wife, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, and most of all, mother to two precious little boys. I know that we all want to do everything in our power to help Liz during this difficult time. I know I would give anything for her to be healed! Please consider donating to help relieve some of the financial stress for this wonderful family and show them we’re here with them for every step of this fight.

Here is an update and a bit of background about Elizabeth’s journey:

The Platz family is in immediate need of your help. Unfortunately Elizabeth's cancer has taken a turn for the worse and there are no treatment options left at this point, other than holistic methods that the family is looking into - Scaler Energy, Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy and Naturopathic treatments to hold the cancer at bay. Elizabeth is a wife to Kevin, mother to two young boys age 8 & 10, and pastor's wife. She started teaching in the valley in 2007 and most of her career was teaching music at John Howitt Elementary, which was her passion and joy until she unfortunately had to step down when diagnosed with cancer. As a background, Elizabeth battled early stage breast cancer back in 2015 while pregnant with her youngest. After multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and treatments, she was declared "cancer free." Unfortunately the cancer came back in 2021 with a vengeance and shock to the family - Stage IV metastatic breast cancer spread to the lungs, bones, sternum, spine, back, pelvis and liver. After trying multiple chemotherapy treatments over the last few years, the latest scans have shown increased growth of tumours, especially in the liver, which has taken over and is causing a lot of pain and discomfort. Cancer tumour markers are climbing and the nature of this cruel disease has hit home very hard with the family. Elizabeth is unable to walk much or do most daily tasks anymore. Energy is decreasing and she battles fatigue everyday with extensive liver pain. A lot of the household tasks have fallen to Kevin and her parents and sister. She also has biweekly lung drainages to remove the fluid off her pleural lining. Due to the extensive liver metastases, Elizabeth is no longer a candidate for traditional chemo options and is back to the drawing board to work with a naturopath on a new, rigorous natural treatment plan to try to hold the tumours at bay and buy her and the family some more time. These treatments are very costly and the family is hoping to attack this holistically and as aggressively as they can. We thank you for your support during this very difficult time and will post updates as we can. We continue to believe in a God of miracles and ask for your prayers more than anything. Whatever you are able to give is greatly appreciated and we are so thankful for our village and community.

One thing we have always tried to cling to is hope: hope for the future, hope for healing, and the hope that we have in Christ. And so we leave you with our Footprints in the Sand Poem that has become a source of comfort during these past few years battling cancer as a family.
"One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
