Eliy's Sunflowers - Hospital kits for teens
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Eliy, and in May of 2021, I was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma of the scapula. I was first diagnosed at 14 years old and underwent 14 cycles of chemotherapy and 31 days of proton radiation therapy. Before my diagnosis and treatment I was a volleyball player and dancer, but now I advocate for pediatric cancer warriors and their families.
My favorite flower is the sunflower, which also happens to be the sarcoma awareness symbol; that is why I call my initiative "Eliy's Sunflowers." While in the hospital and undergoing treatment, I saw how child warriors are often overlooked, especially teens. I knew I wanted to do something to help once I was feeling better. In September, we (my family and I) partnered with Woods Household in Clare and held a Gold Out Night to raise funds and get donations for pediatric cancer patients and their families, and that is also when I decided I wanted to start making teen kits.
The kits contain things I found helpful while I was in treatment (chapstick, lotion, nose plugs, anti-nausea candies, etc...). Please consider donating and helping me make a difference for teen fighters, and thank you to everyone who has already contributed towards the kits.
