Our dear friend Elissa was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS)—a chronic, unpredictable disease that affects the central nervous system. While this early diagnosis offers the benefit of beginning treatment quickly, it has also brought with it an overwhelming mix of emotions, uncertainty, and new challenges. Recently, Elissa spent a full week in the hospital undergoing testing and treatment—an experience that was both physically and emotionally exhausting, and one that adds to the financial burden of navigating a new diagnosis.

If you know Elissa, you know how deeply she lives life in motion—on mountain trails, on her bike, or alongside the people she loves. As an occupational therapist, Elissa has dedicated her career to helping others navigate life’s physical and emotional challenges with grace and strength. Now, she’s facing a challenge of her own—with the same resilience, thoughtfulness, and compassion she gives so freely to her friends, family, and patients.

Even as she continues forward with courage and optimism, MS is already beginning to shift what her day-to-day looks like—from managing pain and fatigue to navigating a maze of appointments, medications, and treatment decisions.
