In 1991, as Master of Kane Lodge, I took action by hiring the law firm of White & Case to establish the Elisha Kent Kane Historical Society. The dream of so many became a reality and the Society flourished. We’re committed to fostering a love for Arctic, Antarctic and other explorations by preserving and showing a priceless collection of artifacts and books in Manhattan.
Now, however, the Society is fighting for its continued existence. Unless it can raise a minimum of $4,000.00 before December 31, 2020, it will cease to exist.
We had hoped that fundraising dinners, lectures and cocktail parties would have enabled the society to raise funds but then the Covid pandemic hit. Also, new treasury regulations have been enacted that require the Society to fundraise from multiple sources. I therefore urge you to contribute to our Go Fund Me campaign before the end of the year. If you do, and we are successful, you can claim credit for saving an important historical organization.
