Elise's Heart Attack Recovery Fund

I'm a caretaker for a disabled veteran in ivins . Everyday I go into this little market near his place and buy him a beer . Everyday this long grey hair lady checks me out at the register . She is always so happy and we exchanged laughter and sometimes a story about what's going on that day. Over the past year and a half we realized we lived in West Virginia at about the same time when we both were kids . Found out she was adopted and one day we were joking about being related or maybe we are long lost cousins . Since that day when ever I walk into the market she greets me with "hey cous" and we both laugh. Anyway, I didn't see her there for her normal shift for the past few days and finally I asked where she was and found out she was in the hospital. I rushed to John's house to give him his beer and make his dinner and went into the backyard and cut some roses off the rose bush and made her a bouquet of roses to take to the hospital. I also grabbed her a soft throw for her to use ( because she was always complaining of being cold when I saw her working ). I ran home and dropped off the dogs and headed for the hospital. When I got there I found out she was in the ICU and you needed a special code to get into the ICU. I didn't have that code . They asked my name thru the intercom and came back on and said she said she doesn't know a Debbie . (Even though we saw each other every day we never really exchanged names. It was always "hey cous"). So I explained to the nurse to tell her it's her "cous" and maybe then she would know who I was . The nurse came to the double locked doors and told me that my friend was not very alert and very confused but that i could see her. When i walked in her room she immediately recognized me and whispered hey cous. They told me she had been found in her trailer unresponsive and not breathing . They called 911 and she has been intubated and in ICU for 3 days . They had just exubated her that morning. She had had a major heart attack and has stopped breathing 3 times since she was admitted . I couldn't believe the smile on her face once she saw me . . She told me I was her only visitor .
I told her about the pretty roses I brought her but that I wasn't allowed to bring them into the ICU but gave her the soft throw to keep her warm. The nurse told me that she keeps pulling out her IV and oxygen cause she wants to go back to work before she loses her job:(
They keep telling her she has to stay here until she can breathe on her own again. She kept telling me she needs out of the hospital before they replace her and she has bills to pay and I told her not to worry about those things because they will work out.
You just never know what a person is going thru. All the stress they have and worries they go thru behind their smiles . She kept telling me thank you for caring about her enough to come see her in the hospital and how much of a surprise it was for her . She was getting sleepy so I told her good night and that id come see her in the morning . I cried as soon as I left her room .
So these funds are for her. Elise Honeywell. :)
