Hello
On Jan. 7th, 2015, Tom collapsed at the gym and was rushed to the hospital. At the age of 44, he had suffered a massive stroke. Six days later, surrounded by friends and family we said our final goodbye.
Many people viewed Tom as a big tough guy but in actuality he was a gentle man with a ready smile. His world revolved around his family and friends but especially our daughter Elisa. Many of us have children but Tom and Elisa had a special bond…he was her main caretaker since birth. Tom worked nights so he could be home during the day and be with Elisa. They cooked together, went hiking, or just lounged together and watched TV. The two were never far from one another! In the morning, before school, I carried her to our bed so she could cuddle in Daddy’s arms…it was part of our routine and it didn’t matter that he had just finished work.
From the minute that I reached out to his direct bosses to let them know of this tragic event, I have been surrounded by genuine love and support from not only his co-workers but all of CSX. Tom made some amazing friends in the 10 years he was with the railroad from the RRT team to the guys and gals in New Jersey! I want to take this time to say THANK YOU!
Sincerely
Marlene Mras
