Elisabeth's Medical Treatment

We are taking to social media to ask for prayers and help from our community. As many of you know, my sister (Elisabeth Edmonson Cothran) was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease almost four years ago. It attacks her organs, especially her lungs and skin. Her condition has deteriorated so much in the last few months that she is now meeting with a surgeon to schedule the amputation of part of her index finger on her dominant hand. Her feet are now starting to show some of the same complications as her hands, her lung function has decreased to 30% and she is on oxygen continuously. She and her husband just purchased a $4,500 oxygen concentrator that the insurance company would not provide.

She sees an excellent doctor at Duke Hospital that has tried to advocate for a lifesaving treatment that she believes will cure this disease. However, her insurance company has now denied treatment THREE TIMES!!

I wonder how many amputations the insurance company thinks are permissible before they will pay for the treatment her doctor says is necessary?

I ask you first of all to pray that Jesus will heal her body from this disease. However, I am also asking your support to help raise the money to pay for her treatment. I feel it is time to bypass the insurance company and raise the money to pay for it ourselves. The cost for this outpatient treatment is around $60,000.  That's approximately $10,000 per infusion to cover 6 rounds of treatment. With all of the loving and caring people in our community raising that amount would be an easy task.
