Hi, my name is Elisa Ivers. In the last year, I have moved out of my home state of 26 years, got a divorce, and moved to LA. On Thursday, I had over 15k of my belongings stolen out of my car. My purse and wallet and other personal items were taken (car keys, social security card, credit cards), some of which are sentimental and irreplaceable (gifts from my marriage), and a small suitcase full of clothes and valuables. The worst hurt has been that ALL my camera equipment (camera bodies, lenses, cards, flashes, tripod, etc) were stolen. Photography is my livelihood and main source of income. I have had these items for 15+ years, and it feels like losing a part of myself.

I have decided to start a gofundme to reach out for help in getting back on my feet. The stolen camera equipment, which has been with me for 15+ years, is my livelihood and primary source of income. Moving from Alaska to LA was not easy. While trying to get established in photography here, I’ve been pet sitting to make ends meet and thus my entire life was quite literally in my car. This was a big deal.

My Backstory:

In the last year, I have moved out of Alaska, my home state of 26 years, a divorce after a 10 year marriage and came out as a Lesbian️‍️‍ (shout out to the best ex-husband in the whole world, he is still one of my best friends), packed up my whole life into my car, and drove down the west coast to LA. While here, I was diagnosed with urethral diverticulum, had major surgery, and have been living out of suitcase since Nov 2022. I am not complaining- This has been one of the toughest sagas my life has told, but I have grown into someone I am proud of. I am beyond grateful for my life right now regardless of the recent series of unfortunate events, and I will always be grateful for what I’ve been given.

That being said, this was not a setback I was expecting. The LAPD is currently investigating the matter, but their scope of action is tragically limited and in the meantime, I can’t even drive my car. Any and all help is so deeply appreciated.
