Three years ago, I met Eli in the yard of my workplace. She was a tiny stray cat, and before long, she became the reason I looked forward to going to work every single day. No matter how stressful life felt, I knew she'd be there waiting for me. Somehow, we chose each other.
Then one day, my company's HR decided to remove her after receiving complaints. The thought of never seeing her again broke my heart, so I adopted her and brought her home. I thought I was rescuing her, but the truth is, she rescued me just as much.
Since then, Eli has been my best friend. She has stayed by my side through some of the hardest days of my life. She has licked away my tears, kept me company when I was sick, and quietly curled up beside me for hours. She's so gentle that she has never once woken me up just because she wanted food. She's endlessly patient, grateful for the smallest things, and somehow loves every living creature she meets. She has the heart of a fighter, yet the kindest soul I've ever known. She reminds me of Pocahontas. We don't speak the same language, but we understand each other perfectly. She's my soulmate.
About a month ago, everything changed.
Eli stopped eating, became weak, and lost her playful spirit. Since then, we've spent countless hours at veterinary hospitals, going through blood tests, ultrasounds, X-rays, medications, IV treatments, and endless uncertainty. After all of those tests, her veterinarian suspected FIP, and her PCR test came back positive. I'll attach all of her medical records and test results for full transparency.
Thankfully, FIP is now a treatable disease. The treatment gives Eli a real chance to recover and live a long, happy life. But it costs around $1,500—more than I can afford on my own.
Asking for help is difficult for me. If I could cover every dollar myself, I would without hesitation. But I can't let money be the reason Eli loses her chance to live.
If you choose to help, you're not just paying for medication. You're helping my best friend come home healthy again. You're giving us the chance to keep sharing quiet mornings, peaceful naps, and all the ordinary moments that end up meaning everything.
Eli is only six years old. I hope this is just one difficult chapter in a much longer story, and that we'll still have many happy years ahead of us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Whether you donate or simply share this campaign, it truly means the world to both of us.
