Elim's Story:
Creating a better future-
At the beginning there was a dream. A dream about a community of children who live together in peace, play in a safe environment, is creative, respectful and thriving for success. We are living this dream right now. In the last seven years, we’ve been working with local children and teenagers from our city. We started with nothing except a football, a couple of volunteers, and a head full of dreams. As the time went by, we started to grow and facilitate programs and events not only for individuals, but for bigger and bigger groups of young people. Three years ago, we opened a new branch in a neighboring city where we transformed a local disco club into a day centre for children and teenagers. This plan took off and from a place where young people slowly destroyed themselves in alcohol and drugs to a place of life and encouragement.
The opportunity to be part of a huge project -
We are trying to achieve the same thing in our city where a former disco club is for sale. A disco club which used to be the biggest one in our region is now just a sad excuse for any kind of establishment. It is situated on the perfect location in the city centre with a skate-park right next to it. Kids who gather there are facing broken beer bottles, drugs, and other negative influences. Our dream is to buy this building and give the centre of our city a different face, give the youth an opportunity to grow, and give a meaning to their everyday lives.
We are living only on donations of our beneficiaries with no government money, so there is only so much we can do with our own funds, but together - when we join our strength - we will be able to reach our goal. We are inviting mainly local people to join us as it is their children's lives at stake, but also the companies whose future employees we are helping to raise and the local church, and also nationally and worldwide. We as a non-profit are not an official Christian organization, but every employee here is a Christian. We are imprinting Christ's love into these kids and are able to see results from week to week. It’s amazing to see these little personalities go through all their victories and struggles and becoming stronger, healthier, and more equipped in the process. The owner of the disco club promised to hold the sale for us until the end of April, so we need help to raise the money before the end of that term.
