One year ago this community helped us get a Sami Cam for Elijah — and it has been a total lifeline. Without it we never would have caught that he was having myoclonic seizures in his sleep. Averaging around 100 seizures per night. That discovery finally explained why sleep doesn’t restore him the way it should, and why long walks… ok, even short ones.. wipe him out. Relevant, we promise. We’re so grateful.
Eli turns 3 soon and is still dealing with drug-resistant epilepsy, big seizures, and respiratory issues. “It ain’t easy bein’ seizey and wheezy.” We’re heading into surgical evaluation at Seattle Children’s and will almost certainly be making the Anchorage–Seattle trip more than once.
What this helps cover:
• A medical-grade adaptive stroller — regular ones weren’t built for seizures, post-ictal weakness, or limited stamina, and carrying a 45 lb growing three-year-old to clinics, through hospitals and airports gets old. We’re also selling our other strollers (2 doubles, a jogger, and an umbrella) to put toward it.
• Other medical equipment insurance won’t cover (looking at you, solid pulse oximeter).
• A small buffer for the unexpected costs that always show up while we navigate care at Seattle Children’s.
Any amount helps us focus on Eli instead of doing constant mental math. Thank you for every prayer, share, and donation — you’re part of our village.
With love and appreciation,
The Simpson family
