Elijah's CrossFit quest in Miami
Donation protected
Hi, we’re CrossFit Ocean Grove – Kathie, Maddy and Jaimie – on a mission to help Elijah. Here is his story…
Just a boy, doing what he loves, trying to take on the world…
A little under two years ago, Elijah entered a CrossFit gym for his very first class. Fast forward, and today he has qualified to compete on the worldwide stage!
His journey and progression in the CrossFit space has been rapid and inspiring to watch. He quickly fell in love with the training, committing to 6 am training sessions 5-6 days a week plus additional sessions to work on Olympic lifting and mobility. Surprisingly to him, but not to those around him, he entered the Worldwide CrossFit Open at the start of 2022, finishing in 13th position (Boys 14-15) and moving on to the quarterfinals and eventually the semi-finals. He missed out on qualifying for the CrossFit games, but the fire was ignited! The intensity, commitment, and effort he puts into training has progressively increased and so to test his current fitness he decided to enter the TYR Wodapolooza Online Qualifier in September 2022.
The TYR Wodapolooza CrossFit Competition is one of the biggest and best CrossFit comps in the world. Only ten teenage boys from around the world are invited to compete following an online qualifying event. Competition is fierce, and qualifying for an event like this is what CrossFit dreams are made of.
Following two weeks of gruelling hardcore workouts, Elijah finished 4th in the online qualifier and received an invitation to the live event, which will take place in Miami, Florida, USA, in January 2023.
So here we are, Elijah’s extended CrossFit family and supporters, and we want to see him go all the way. To get him to the USA is a massive push – physically and mentally, he has this covered and is willing to put in the work (3.5hrs training every day). We have set up this page to help ease some of the financial stress.
Flights alone are $5K each – and as a 15yo kid, Elijah will need one of his parents to accompany him.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Elijah, and we would be forever grateful if you could dig into your pockets and throw some coin in to help get him on his way.
