Elijah's MS / Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected
We wanted to start this fund to help our brother Elijah. A lot of people have asked us how they can help so we wanted to share this with you. Four years ago while doing scans on Elijah's back they found a tumor which they were able to remove. Less than a year later he had major back surgery to repair many discs. During a new scan they found a tumor on his leg.

Shortly after that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and has so far had 8 cancerous tumors including a very large one on his left leg removed. The surgery on his leg left it pretty much useless to him because of the chunk of bone removed and the nerve damage afterwards. He has extensive pain in the leg but is holding out burning the nerve endings in his leg in hope they may be able to help him fix it in the future. He uses a wheelchair to get around.

He was going to John Hopkins but he moved to the Cancer Center of America in Philadelphia because they specialize in multiple myeloma treatment. He lives in Virginia just outside of DC. This is where his job is and where another one of our brothers Daniel lives with him and helps take care of him. His boss is AMAZING and works with him as much as possible to let him take off for numerous doctors visits and when he isn't feeling well. She is like family to him and we appreciate her so much.

The challenge is that he now has to go to Philadelphia every two weeks instead of every month for scans and treatments because the tumors are developing when he is on chemo. Because of his countless back issues he's had for many years and medicine he had been on his liver is failing. They have upped his chemo to the absolutely max they think his liver can handle...and because of this he cannot take any other drugs like anti-nausea medicine to help with the side effects of chemo. He also is able to have no pain medicines to help with his leg pain or when they remove the tumors that are developing.

He continues to lose weight and it is becoming very difficult for him to drive long distances. The cancer center charges him $2000 every month in fees that his insurance does not cover. We are looking into trying to figure out a transportation plan for him to get to and from his appointments in Philadelphia (about a 2 1/2 hour drive) when his brothers or friends can't take him. If you have been wondering how you might be able to help we have set up this fund to help ease the burden of the costs of transportation and his treatment so that he can put all his energy into getting better!! We love you Elijah and are fighting with you!!
