On September 9th my 23-year-old son Elijah was badly injured in a motorcycle accident. Elijah was ejected from the motorcycle, landed into oncoming traffic under a car, and was run over by the oncoming car's back tire. It is an absolute miracle he is alive! The bad news... in addition to four broken ribs, Elijah currently has no feeling or movement in his left arm. He suffered a terrible injury to his brachial plexus, a network of nerves that connects the spinal cord to the shoulder, arm, and hand. The hospital he is at in Eureka cannot perform the necessary surgery(ies), so he is being referred to UCSF Hospital.
Elijah is a doting young father of my beautiful 21-month-old granddaughter, very hard-working, and is now facing a long, difficult road to recovery. He also currently started a new job and does not have health insurance. In addition to being unable to work for the near-term future, he is now going to be faced with a multitude of medical expenses & lost income. Anything you are able to help donate is appreciated more than words can express.
On behalf of our entire family, we thank you for your support and please keep Elijah's full recovery in your thoughts & intentions.
