Elijah Thompson Legacy Fund

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds that will go toward medical bills from his year-long battle, travel debt as his care was out of state for months, funeral expenses and hopefully funds to create a legacy fund for his two beautiful children.

The world lost an incredible human being.

Every once in a while, you meet someone whose personality is bigger than they are. You know, the kind of person that inspires you and you didn't even see it coming because of their often reserved demeanor until you get to know them. They have an infectious way about them, drawing you into their persona. The kind of person that leaves you thinking about their words long after they are spoken. Now typically, that persona is based on prowess, success and experience. But occasionally, someone whose old soul touches you unexpectedly comes along and has been like that from birth. That, I suggest to you, is what the world lost in Elijah Thompson.

Elijah became unexpectedly ill with a mystery illness in October of last year, later discovered to be a rare genetic childhood disease called Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome (SDS) that went undiscovered. This caused bone marrow failure, which led to the disease progressing into Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) that later developed into Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Elijah bravely fought this battle to beat cancer. The complications from that fight would take his earthly vessel.

Elijah leaves behind a wife, Kassi and two small children who will have to navigate life without their partner and father.

Elijah left an incredible legacy of love, kindness, fierce bravery, and courage. We hold precious memories in our hearts, evident in the many stories that continue to pour out about his inspirational influence on so many. The best legacy we can put immediately into place for him is to set his family up for financial security moving forward.
