I am Danny Herold Jr.  along with Tavia DeMarbieux (my son's mother) and  I need help bringing our son home. On Friday October 16, 2020. I got
the phone call that every parent fears. The Oklahoma State Police contacted a family member
because his DNA matched my son’s. My first born child was found in a drainage canal in West
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. According to the homicide detectives they don’t suspect any foul play involved. He was released from the hospital earlier in week for having seizures and then he went missing. We don’t know the cause of death.
Elijah wanted to be a Marine. He had dreams following in me, his uncle Michael Mullins Jr., and
his late grandfather Danny Andrew Herold’s Sr. footsteps. He was a member of the active
ROTC program while at Annapolis High School. He wanted to protect his family, especially his 3
younger sisters, his friends and his country. He would’ve been a great soldier. But, Elijah’s truest battle was within. He has been trying to find peace all of his life. He knew what he wanted, he just didn’t know how to get there.
As soon as Elijah was eligible to work he kept a job. How many young people do you know that
has a 6 year work history at 21? He got a job to take pressure off me raising his younger sisters.
He left Maryland in the summer to be with his mother and his other siblings in Oklahoma.
In full disclosure, my son had mental illness. He was prescribed medicine and sometimes he
self medicated himself. He just wanted to feel “normal”. As a family, we did everything in our
abilities to support him. We still lost him. This loss to our family is immeasurable. My mother
who Elijah affectionately called Gramma Ann is holding the family down in my absence.
I am a single father of 3 young girls, now having to lay to rest my first born and only son. I would
like to have a service for Elijah's family and friends in Annapolis, then ultimately disperse his
remains at the place of his birth, 29 Palms, California. Elijah always talked about going home. I was jokingly talking to his uncle Twan, that Elijah loved Twentynine Palm more than he loved me. Please help fulfill my son’s last earthly wish.
All monies raised will help me and my girls to properly send their brother off. Your generosity
will not be misused. Any excess monies will be donated.
