Elijah Greenlaw to UCM T.H.R.I.V.E.

Elijah M. Greenlaw graduated from Blue Springs High School, Blue Springs, MO, Magna Cum Laude, in May, and his family couldn't be more proud.
Elijah is one of the many, many Special Education students striving to go well beyond norms and expectations by attending college at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
Elijah was diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability at age 4, but he's been a wonder to watch as he's fought through every early health and developmental challenge.
His parents, James E. Greenlaw Jr. and Sheila Tillmon, said Elijah has had his sights set on attending college for years, modeling family members and close family friends.
Standing 6'3" tall, one would never believe that Elijah received a Failure to Thrive diagnosis at 4 months.
Ironically, UCM offers a program called T.H.R.I.V.E. — specifically for special-needs students. The 2-year program is $42,000 and seeks to prepare young adults for vocational readiness, independent living, self-sufficiency and equality of opportunity.
Elijah initiated contact with UCM, then underwent a rigorous application process and was selected in July into the program for the 2018-2019 school year.
Elijah does not dwell on limitations--only possibilities--and operates in that realm every day of his life. Tragically, one of Elijah's older brothers, Everett, died a little over a year ago in a drowning accident, which resulted in an extremely emotionally difficult year for Elijah's family, as well as lean financial challenges.
Achieving the GoFundME goal would allow Elijah's dream to come true and supplement current funds by off-setting a portion of the program costs.
His family feels blessed to have made it through this past year, through God's grace and the love of family & friends, and would be extremely grateful for the assistance in meeting this goal.
