Elias Lopez has been patiently awaiting a liver transplant. His illness has caused him to be out of work for almost a year, causing severe financial hardship for his family. Due to unexpected unemployment, extended hospitalizations, and mounting medical expenses, the Lopez family is currently behind on their bills. Although a transplant is hopefully within the near future, Elias is now undergoing additional tests for lymph node cancers, which will add additional financial burden as well as a potential delay in receiving his new liver.
