Friends, on March 6th, Elias Holt was severely hurt while guiding a skiing party in the mountains of Morocco. Elias was initially treated in the hospital in Casablanca where he was believed to only have a severe femoral fracture and facial lacerations. Once strong enough to travel, Elias made the long journey across the Atlantic, across the US and back to Alaska. Immediately on his return to Alaska he was admitted to Alaska Regional Hospital and was subsequently diagnosed with additional fractures in his spine and neck. Doctors set out an aggressive surgery schedule to not only repair his spinal injury but also re-brake and re-set and pin his femur. Nearly three weeks after the accident Elias is still in the Alaska Regional Hospital in Wasilla. Needles to say, Elias’s medical bills are extensive and he will not be able to work as a skiing, hunting or mountain guide for some time.

We are asking those willing to send in a donation to help. Elias has lived an active life guiding skiers, hunters, mountain climbers. The adventures and experiences Elias has shared with his clients and colleagues have expanded their horizons and touched many many people’s lives. With proper medical treatment Elias will likely make a near complete physical recovery. Unfortunately the expense of his care and the loss of work opportunities in the near term combine to inflict severe physical and emotional trauma on anyone.
