Hello my name is Jarod K. Ludwig on behalf of my wife Charlene and I we are at a loss of words for losing our daughter Eliana Rose Ludwig on January 18th, 2023 at 7pm. 

Charlene has a autoimmune disease called Lupus Nephritis. Unfortunately due to the pregnancy it then caused a major flare up once again for Charlene. This then resulted in something called HELLPS syndrome.

 (Hemolysis Elevated Lived Enzymes Low Platelet Count) HELLPS is a rare life threatening condition in pregnancy and is a form of Preeclampsia. 

On January 18th Charlene and I (Jarod) returned to Kaiser Baldwin park for a routine lab work and blood pressure check. We were then told the awful horrible news that Charlene’s life was in danger and that our baby girl had to be delivered at 19 weeks of age. Via Emergency Surgery that day.

Charlene’s blood pressures ranged from 201/110 and was at risk of the following If the baby wasn’t delivered that day: 

-Maternal death

-severe morbidity

-including disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)

- blood transfusion

-placental abruption

-renal failure and rupture 

-liver failure 

-sepsis

-Stroke

-Brain Damage

-ICU admission intubation 

-Physical Disabilities/damage

Our baby was 19 weeks but was measuring the size of a 16 week old baby due to this condition. We were told that the baby will not be able to survive outside in the NICU due to her being under 24 weeks. 

On January 18th at 7:00 pm Baby Eliana Rose Ludwig was born into the world and unfortunately did not make it and had a very short time here on earth.

Charlene is now in recovery slowly coming down from her aggressive lupus flare once again. Please keep my wife and I in your prayers and of course our little miracle baby Eliana Rose Ludwig.
